SOLD OUT Titles: Peter DiCampo -- The Place Where I Always Begin
Peter DiCampo's "The Place Where I Always Begin" is about the village in Ghana where he worked as a Peace Corps volunteer, and where he always returns when he starts a new project in Africa.
"It was in Wantugu that I learned what community means. I lived there from 2006-2008 as a Peace Corps Volunteer and have been fortunate enough to return many times over the years. It was also there that I started questioning how we look at Africa, how photographers have represented Africa, and so it is fitting that I've shot a segment of each of my major projects here. At times I worry that I have made this place a stage, a living theater that I use to illustrate my thoughts and feelings -- but when I receive a text message from one of my friends there, while thousands of miles away, I remember that it is also where I feel most at home."
Peter is the co-founder of the Everyday Africa Instagram feed. You can see more of his work at Peter DiCampo and learn more about his current long-term project in Africa at The What Went Wrong? Foundation. Edition of 50, signed and numbered, $20 each. Purchase information under "Purchase Book" link to the left.
