I'm a sucker for spring. Growing up in southern California, I used to imagine what spring would be like after a long winter. It wasn't until my early 20s, when I moved to Boston to work as a reporter for The Christian Science Monitor (long before I became a photographer), that I got to experience the unbridled glory of spring -- of life emerging again in all its joy. I was in Boston last April, just as spring was beginning to make an appearance. These images were all made during a long walk one cloudy afternoon at the Arnold Arboretum, one of my favorite places in the city.
